Our
Story

We are a group dedicated to starting local Pukekohe Community Garden. We started this idea due to the hardships people face to feed themselves and whanau. We are still in the early phases which means we need to raise awareness for our cause.
We are looking for volunteers to help with administration and gardening/construction and any local businesses, Iwi or council land to lease or rent land from to turn into a community garden.

Today fresh fruit and vegetables are still hard to buy with costs continuing to rise and no end in sight. The community is still having issues with being able to provide the necessary support to help these people.

On top of that, Pukekohe and the wider Franklin community are continuing to grow at an extreme rate.

Pukekohe alone grew from 20,466 in 2013 to over 27,000 in 2023, with it expected to grow to 50,00 by 2027.

With this growth rate we need to implement methods now to protect the future of our community.

Our mission is to make fruit and vegetables available to everyone in the community as well as building partnerships with local businesses, Iwi, schools, retirement homes and other organizations.
